|
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is derived from psychoanalysis. In terms of technique, the author agrees with those analysts who say that the same techniques can be used for psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, and that it is very helpful to use the same techniques in both. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy has many limitations in setting, such as not using the couch, reducing sessions and regression. But actually, the differences between psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis are not in the techniques but in their settings. Therefore, the full range of real psychoanalytic techniques are also very useful for psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
